Birth Partnership Workshop (for both partner + mama)

Due to popular demand, Duluth Midwife is bringing Duluth a workshop where we focus more on partnership during pregnancy and birth, with lots of time and space dedicated to partners and dads in particular. Many moms have asked for a class geared towards the practicalities of how to cope naturally with labor as well. So, we have crafted a combo afternoon that will be just what you and your partner need!

Moms will split off into their own group and will get a chance to talk about partnership in general, and learn about labor coping in particular with Margo of Duluth Midwife (who has had an unmedicated homebirth of her own in addition to all of the births she has attended).

Partners will spend time with Tate Haglund-Pagel, a superdad of 3 under 5, Margo's brother, and an honorary "dudela" (a dude doula). Tate has experienced the gamut of pregnancy and birth possibilities in the Duluth area, and is knowledgable about the intricacies of birth. If you have been looking for straight talk about what to expect, and how to be the best partner you can be during this time, you better join us!

There will be light snacks, lots of laughs, and time to practice some hands on labor support. Wear clothes you'll be comfortable in when moving/bending/leaning.

We will come back together as a full group for the last part of the workshop, and will go over more concepts and practice some labor support.

Essentials of Pregnancy Nutrition - Co-op Cooking Class

Essentials of Pregnancy Nutrition is a a fun, tasty and informative workshop covering all the major components of an optimal pregnancy diet.

Most people don't realize that the pregnant body has to increase its blood volume by about 50% in order to remain healthy as well as nourish the growing baby. We will talk about HOW we can help facilitate this process (and many others that keep the baby and pregnant mom healthy) by going through a typical day of eating in pregnancy. You will get hands on practice, lots of time to ask questions, and a sample shopping list to help guide you.

We will be meeting at the Hillside location of the Whole Foods Co-op and you'll need to register through their website (link pending)

After Birth: Preparing for the Postpartum - A Cooking Class

After Birth: Preparing for the Postpartum is a workshop where we will talk about the nutritional needs of postpartum moms, especially those who are exclusively breastfeeding. We will make and taste some simple, nourishing foods, most of which can also be made as freezer meals prior to the birth. We will also talk about other aspects of optimizing postpartum heath and celebrating this precious time.

We will be meeting at the Hillside location of the Whole Foods Co-op and you'll need to register through their website (link pending)

Free Natural Birth Workshop

Free Natural Birth Workshop by Margo of Duluth Midwife & Indie Birth

Location - 835 W College St, Duluth

Sponsored by the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Duluth

**No registration required, just show up and bring a friend or two!

In this workshop we will dive deep into what birth REALLY looks like and how it really works. Indie Birth's birth education resources have been hugely popular in the online natural birth community but we want to see more change, faster, and so have started doing these shorter immersions to make the most crucial information as accessible as possible.

This will be a multi-media, experiential learning event. My hope is that you will leave feeling fully immersed in what birth really looks like and feels like when we understand and respect the process.  I also hope that you will leave with a stronger sense of what you want for your own birth (if you are planning one) and how you are going to get what you want and need for you and your baby.

Nursing babies and children welcome if you feel like you'll still be able to focus.  There is a preschool geared kids area to play nearby (in sight) with puzzles, books, toys, etc.

Learn more about our philosophy and work at duluthmidwife.com and indiebirth.com

**Everyone who is interested is welcome - you do NOT need to be pregnant or planning to become pregnant to attend. I love when we have people of all ages, sexes, genders and backgrounds attend! **
